Quarter 2, week 3: Music Announcements

    Friday, November 6th, 2009

1) Band practice times are now due every week.  6th get them on Friday and they are due a week later, and 7/8 gets them on Thursday and are due the next thursday.  They will have the weekly assignments, requirements, and announcements printed on them every week.  After a week overdue, practice times will become zeros, but they still can be submitted to eliminate the zero with a point reduction.  This is different, and the students need to stay on top of this.  It will give you a more accurate reflection of their grade though without a big change at the end of the quarter.  Please check webgrader periodically to check your grades.

2) Assignments and announcements can be found both on webgrader and blackboard for 6th and 7/8 band.

3) Percussion announcement: Percussion do not need their percussion kits at school at this time for 6-8 grades.  Those should be left at home for practice.

At school, the percussion students need the following at every band rehearsal, their Accent on Achievement combined percussion book, music folder, bell mallets, drum sticks, and a pencil.  We highly recommend buying a stick bag that they can carry their sticks and mallets (and a pencil)in that hangs easily in their locker when they don’t have it in band.

4) 7th and 8th band students must be practicing their band pieces for the December 7th concerts.  We will miss numberous rehearsals between now and then, and individual work is important.
