Here is my super elevation mapping page.
These maps were created in the "Color the World" page on the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory website. There are some very intriguing maps on their site. You can "color the world your own way" by choosing elevation increments and colors. Then you can put your map in their gallery.
This map shows ocean elevations in 2000 foot increments and land elevations in 1000 foot increments. I wanted to show more detailed elevation differences in the land so I used smaller increments. I chose the colors because they were close to natural colors of the earth.

This map shows only the ocean elevations. I used 1000 foot increments to show more details. The colors were chosen because they contrasted with each other.

This map shows only the land elevations. The colors and elevation increments were chosen simply because they were pleasing to the eye.
