Edward O. Stewart received a BFA in Painting and Printmaking in 1974 from Kansas City Art Institute, an MA in Art Education in 1984 from Truman State University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in 1999 from the University of Missouri—Columbia. He was an instructor at Truman State for two years, an art teacher at Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo. for thirteen years and has been at ISU since 1999. Ed is a member of Phi Delta Kappa (PDK), and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), as well as the Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA), and the National Art Education Association (NAEA). He served two terms as Vice-President of the Illinois Art Education Association's (IAEA) Central Council and is currently Secretary for Central Council and a member of the Board of Directors of the IAEA and has been a member of the Editorial Review Board for Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association. He has published several guest editorials on education in the Bloomington/Normal Pantagraph, the IAEA Newsletter The Mosaic, and published articles in the journal Art Education entitled "The Matrix: A Secondary Postmodern Primer" in May of 2003. and "Toward a Democratic (Art) Education" in May of 2012.
