BIRMINGHAM
SING OUT FOR PEACE

Birmingham is a tool for helping develop communities through music. It began as a joint venture between Illinois State University's
Department of Music and the First Baptist Church of El Paso, Illinois in 1987. The purpose was simply to unite town and gown, white and black, and urban and rural. Over 2000 public school children, 600 adults, and 900 college students have participated in it's workshops and performancs. Individuals came from 30 public schools, 28 communities, 25 churches, 20 businesses and 5 social agencies.
