Assessment

Assessment of Logistics, Operations, and Needs

Needs assessment surveys will be given to a selected group of directors and schools. Its purpose is to determine which topics, presentations, and clinicians would best serve the needs of the participating schools.

Follow-up surveys will be given to students and directors in order to evaluate the festival operation itself. Information about the quality of the presentations, scheduling, staffing, logistics, parking, and all other areas of the festival will be used to make improvements for the next event.

Assessment of Student Acheivement

Evaluative feedback is the primary vehicle for measuring individual and group performance. Experts and master teachers will work with each group. These non-graded sessions focus on the improvement of performance skills, not which group is "better" than the others.

Self-report surveys will be used to measure changes in student attitude. One survey will be given approximately one week before the festival, and a follow-up will be given within one week after the festival. The cooperation of each director will be vital, as both surveys will need to be administered by each participating school.
