Research
Being a professor lends itself to establishing expertise and interest in various areas of research. While the departments and schools [education, biochemistry, engineering, foreign languages, etc.] that employ us generally and broadly identify our areas of research, each of us typically focus on more narrow areas with those broad fields. Having an unique voice and contributing to the scholarly communication is what most of us strive for.
As I progress through my career I am drawn to exploring how students learn, the cognitive processes that drive retention of content, and various delivery methods. My specific focus is on blending technology and pedogogy using the information fluency model or sometimes referred to as ICT (Information and Communication Technology) proficiencies. In in a variety of positions I worked with a broad spectrum of courses and programs that incorporate information literacy and technology in varying degrees. Additionally, I explore the incorporation of three schools of design: instructional, graphic, and web, into library teaching initiatives. Visit my projects page to see examples of my work in these three areas of design.
