Classmates

Kinda Al-Fityani Grad Year: 2nd
Grad Studies Focus: Intercultural
Plans after graduation: Doctoral school if accepted.
Dream job: ... Is philanthropy a job? I'd love to live my life visiting charitable organizations and institutions, meet people in need, talk with them about issues that concern them, and to be able to help them through training workshops, education and work opportunities. More specifically, I would like to see that deaf people in Jordan, where I'm from, are given equal rights and living to their full potential. Maybe I don't have to be a philanthropist to do that. I guess I'd be a human rights advocate for deaf people in developing countries.

Geoff Beran

Grad Year: 2nd
Grad Studies Focus: Mass Communication Effects
Plans after graduation: Afterward, plan to go on for PhD
Dream job: Writing songs for a rock opera and then writing the screenplay and then producing and directing the film version.

Kelly Caraher

Grad Year: 2nd
Grad Studies Focus: Interpersonal Communication. I also have an interest in Organizational Communication
Plans after graduation: My immediate plans for after graduation are to travel, (hey I figure I deserve a little reward after 6 years at ISU) find a job, and as her maid of honor, help my cousin get ready for her wedding.
Dream job: I think that if I could have any job in the world, that I would have loved to have had the drive back in the beginning of high school to go to medical school and become a surgeon.

Courtney Davis

Grad Year: 1st
Grad Studies Focus: Mass communication (with other possibilities still existing)
Plans after graduation: I am just starting to consider exactly what I want to do with my degree. I will probably end up working for a media research firm or doing some non-tenure track teaching (or both!).
Dream job: I would like to work for the Chicago Cubs doing either public relations or any position in which I could travel with the team and work in Arizona for the spring training session.
Favorite Vacation: A small road trip I took with my best friend to Toronto when I was 19. It was great because it was the first time I remember feeling truly independent since we planned and paid for everything ourselves. It was the first time I ever gambled in a casino as well, which is probably why I enjoy going to the boats so much now!

Nancy Farris

Grad Year: 2nd
Grad Studies Focus: My main area of interest is in computer-mediated communication; specifically, I am interested in how and why individuals choose to interact in a mediated environment and the combined influence of technology and the individual on mediated communication.
Plans after graduation:
Dream vacation: Rent a small villa on the Amalfi coast in Italy for at least a month where I could be utterly alone in the Mediterranean sun. Sit in a café, drink wine, and watch the world go by. Make trips to the market for figs and seafood and olives. Walk everywhere. Sit on the veranda and read purely for pleasure. Have no intrusions from television or telephone. Be ignorant of time except for the rise and set of the sun.

Jennifer Silva

Grad Year: 2nd
Grad Studies Focus: I came into the Master's program full time last Fall after working full time professionally since my graduation from Monmouth College in 1998. I really enjoy teaching COM 110 and taking classes. I hope to write a thesis merging political and media communication.
Plans after graduation: Continue for a PhD
Dream job: My dream job would be anything I truly enjoyed, probably involve a lot of reading, thought, and discussion on controversial issues and policy that could advance and improve our nation and world, and being a mom.

Amanda Troy

Grad Year: 1st
Grad Studies Focus: I am not focusing on any one area. I would much rather take a variety of classes that way I know a little about everything, and I can see what truly interests me.
Plans after graduation: Since I am only in my first semester of graduate school, I haven't thought too much about what I will do after graduation. I am definitely not going through any more school though!
Dream job: I would love to direct and produce music videos. I never will, but, hey, that's why its a dream job!

Deanna Welchel

Grad Year: 2nd
Grad Studies Focus: I have not really focused on anything in particular. I am just doing a little of everything.
Plans after graduation: After graduate school - I plan to move somewhere warm and either try teaching community college or do something for a non-for-profit org.
Dream job: My dream job would be traveling with Bono helping families with HIV/AIDS to get the proper care and helping families in need - or just traveling everywhere helping people who are less fortunate. (I am not sure that I would get paid, so it may not be a job but, it is what I wish that I could do)
.
