Rationale for using the Webboard

I'm incorprating Webboard into the class to take advantage of several very specific benefits for your educational experience. In any class meeting, there is limited time for me AND you to hear what you and your classmates are thinking about the topics at hand. Only a small group of you are able to voice your ideas at any one time, but I know that many others have interesting and valuable contributions to the class. It seems to me to be quite a loss for everyone.

Although not perfect, the Webboard helps to address that limitation of in-class discussions. Using the Webboard allows everyone to contribute his or her ideas to the class and everyone to learn what classmates are thinking about course-related content. It also allows you to think about your contributions more extensively and perhaps improve the quality, as opposed to trying to formulate a thought in the short amount of time that class meetings offer.

We will be using the Webboard as opportunities arise.
